Bath Mat or Bath Rug

An item that can be found in every home bathroom across the nation. An area next to your bath that has a mat or rug placed down so you can dry your feet after exiting the bath. Whilst both option of a bath mat and bath rug offer the same purpose there are a few difference you should consider when deciding which one to purchase for your home.

In simple, bath mats are a more practical choice for your bathroom. They are much more absorbent and will dry quicker. You can find bath mats in a range of materials including cotton, memory foam and bamboo. Alongside their absorbency, bath mats also offer a non-slip aspect which is vital for keeping you safe in the bathroom with wet feet.

On the contrast, whilst a bath rug is still practical, it is generally more used for adding a luxurious feel to your bathroom. They come in a much wider variety of styles and fabrics. They are known for their more luxurious looks and feels. However, a bath rug is not as absorbents as a bath mat and does not always offer non-slip grips. The most common materials for bath rugs include cotton, wool and chenille.

So, the deciding factor will always come down to how luxurious you want your bathroom to feel. If you are someone who wants your bathroom to be luxurious and do not mind about the absorbency then a bath rug will be perfect for you. But if you are the other way round, go for a bath mat. Bath mats do tend to be much cheaper than bath rugs, so always keep this in mind. With luxury comes a higher price tag.
