Wooden Flooring in a Bathroom?

Wooden flooring is a classic choice for all part of the home and for commercial buildings too, in cases where the appearance is particularly important. One area where wooden flooring will need to be very carefully considered, though, is the bathroom; damp and humidity can have a negative effect on wood so might make it a bad choice for environments that have lots of moisture.

If you love the appearance of wood and want to have wooden flooring in your bathroom, this is still possible. There are tow main options to choose from:

  • Laminate flooring. This is not made of real wood and is an imitation. Laminate can look very realistic though and it will not warp or become damaged by the damp, humid environment.
  • Engineered wood flooring. This only has one layer of solid wood and the rest is usually plywood. This means it won’t warp in the same way as solid wood.
